Friday September 13thÂ
(NEW YORK, NY—August 22, 2013) — Glass Eye Pix, the maverick prolific production company responsible for a vast slate of captivating independent genre movies including THE LAST WINTER, I SELL THE DEAD, THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL, STAKE LAND and THE INNKEEPERS, announces the wide release of the highly anticipated second season of their sensory rich genre audio dramas TALES FROM BEYOND THE PALE via the online store at http://www.talesfrombeyondthepale.com.
Having previously released 10 studio-recorded TALES for Season One, co-creators Larry Fessenden and Glenn McQuaid decided to up the ante and stage a second season of TALES before a live audience at the performance venue Dixon Place in downtown New York City. TALES season two delves even further beyond the pale with eight explosive tales to tickle your fancy and curdle your blood.
Inspired by the classic radio shows of Alfred Hitchcock, Boris Karloff, Peter Lorre, and Orson Welles, each TALES FROM BEYOND THE PALE is a half hour downloadable audio program chillingly brought to life by the extraordinary vocal talents of Sean Young, Vincent D’Onofrio, Mark Margolis, James LeGros, Michael Cerveris, Kate Lyn Sheil, and Jonny Orsini, to name just a few.
Hosted by Glass Eye Pix CEO Larry Fessenden, each thirty-minute episode is written and directed by one of today’s horror auteurs including Joe Maggio (BITTER FEAST), Clay McLeod Chapman (HENLEY), Jeff Buhler (THE MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN), Ashley Thorpe (THE DEMON HUNTSMAN), Kim Newman (ANNO DRACULA), Glenn McQuaid (I SELL THE DEAD), Simon Barrett (YOU’RE NEXT), and Larry Fessenden (BENEATH).
Award-winning artist “Ghoulishâ€Â Gary Pullin returns to illustrate the lavish TALES posters, joined this season with works by Brahm Revel, Ashley Thorpe and Trevor Denham.
Conceived during a fog-drenched car ride by Fessenden and frequent collaborator Glenn McQuaid (I SELL THE DEAD, V/H/S), TALES continues the mission at Glass Eye Pix to celebrate and elevate individual voices in the arts and to bring a vast palette of moods that comprise the horror story to fans everywhere.
Says Fessenden: “TALES FROM BEYOND THE PALE is such a consistently thrilling project to be part of, because we are working in a format that brings both nostalgia and innovation to all the artists involved. On the one hand, everyone has some affectionate recollection of the audio stories they heard as a kid, and on the other hand we are all pushing the limits of the format in a new and contemporary direction. It’s a blast, and a welcome break from visual storytelling.â€
McQuaid adds: “Having a season of TALES already behind us, we thought it would be a fun challenge to pull back the curtain on our process and perform them live. Beyond the fact that it got us out of a comfort zone, I think the live setting helped us hone in on the heart of the project. I’m delighted with what we’ve accomplished, this is some of our best work.â€
Season two of TALES FROM BEYOND THE PALE will be available for purchase/download at the TALES online store beginning Friday, September 13th for $2.99 per TALE.
